codes and conventions of a magazine contents page

I compared a selection of magazine contents pages to get an idea of the common codes and conventions.
I found that they contain:
  • an editors letter and photo
  • a date which is usually found at the bottom
  • name if the magazine which is the same as on the front cover.
  • breakdown of the magazine into the page numbers.
  • contains around 7-8 photos that are not just of people.
  • there are around 5-7 types of font present on the contents page.
  • graphics are included to break up the page
  • the images used use direct address
  • the colour scheme used is the same as the front cover
  • there is also information on the magazine in order for the reader to contact them by.
  • the photots have article numbers by them showing which story they link to.
  • the whole contents page is organised into columns.
  • the subheadings are also in bold or have graphics behind them to make them stand out.
